small steps to bravery

 My sweet, shy, and sensitive boy is growing up! He is still sweet, shy, and sensitive, and yet brave! Just last year, you could not have told me that this guy would be holding a gecko! And making it his business to catch lizards and pet cats and dogs. I am so proud of him.

Father thank you for the Faltz boys who are such a good example to our boys. Help me to be careful to encourage but not make this ultimate. Save him Oh Lord! Bind his identity to you and nothing else! Whether he is afraid or bold he might bring you glory in all that he does.

Joy & Gratitude

  Today our home was filled with the pitter patter—or rather “stomp stomp stomp” of 14 pairs of little barefoot feet. Laughter, yelling, dancing, singing, running, hiding, seeking, eating, drinking, playing, reading, learning. My heart was full of joy. This is our hope for our home. That it would continue to be filled with these sounds. From our own children and from their friends. That families would come and be comfortable, opening and closing the fridge, washing dishes, doing laundry, moving about as if it were their own. That we would be together and have everything in common. Breaking bread in this home with glad and sincere hearts. Looking to the One who holds us all together.  At one point all the children were outside and one of the parents remarked how eerily quiet it had gotten within minutes. She’ll be the only one not there.“ “Think of how she will feel when they’re all talking about it on Sunday!” “I don’t want them to think of me and our family a certain way. They already think we’re weird because we don’t watch much tv, do sleepovers, criticize Disney, & aren't hip to the latest secular dance moves.” If I’m honest, these are the real reasons why I was upset about our family’s decision for Elizabeth not to attend a birthday party she was recently invited to.  The party is the weekend of her little brother’s birthday.
